What a DA PA SS checker tells you
A DA PA SS checker returns three numbers at once: Domain Authority, Page Authority and Spam Score. Two measure strength, one measures risk, and reading them together is the whole point.
Authority on its own is an incomplete picture. A domain can carry real link equity and still be a bad place to put your link, and only the Spam Score column reveals that.
Why DA and SS belong in the same check
The most common expensive mistake in link buying is sorting a prospect list by DA and working down from the top. That sort puts rebuilt expired domains and PBN nodes at the very top, because they inherited authority they no longer deserve.
Sorting by DA and then filtering by Spam Score removes most of them in one pass. It is a thirty-second step that routinely saves the cost of the link.
- High DA, low SS — the target. Strong and clean.
- High DA, high SS — treat as a red flag. Usually an expired domain rebuilt for links.
- Low DA, low SS — often fine. A small, honest site that simply has not grown yet.
- Low DA, high SS — skip without further thought.

SS stands for Spam Score. It is a risk metric that estimates how likely a domain is to look spammy to search engines, based on signals such as domain age, HTTPS validity and blocklist history. Unlike DA and PA, a lower Spam Score is better.
It is the standard screening check in link building. DA and PA tell you how strong a domain is, and SS tells you whether that strength comes with risk attached. Checking all three together stops you paying for a high-authority link on a domain you should avoid.
As a rough guide, under 5 is clean, 5 to 10 warrants a manual look, and above 10 usually means the domain is not worth a link regardless of its DA. Always open the site and judge it yourself before spending money.
