DA Score Checker

Check the DA score of any domain for free, see how it ranks against competitors, and understand what actually moves it.

One domain per line (or comma-separated) — up to 20 at once. No signup required.

What your DA score means

A DA score compresses a domain’s entire backlink profile into one number between 1 and 100. It is a prediction of ranking ability, not a measurement of current rankings.

The scale is logarithmic, which is the part most people miss. The distance from 20 to 30 is ordinary work. The distance from 70 to 80 is a different order of effort entirely.

Reading a DA score against competitors

A DA score in isolation answers nothing. The same 30 is dominant in one niche and invisible in another, so the number only becomes useful next to the sites you are actually up against.

  • Under 20 — new or small domains, few earned links.
  • 20–40 — established sites with a real link profile.
  • 40–60 — strong competitors in most commercial niches.
  • Over 60 — major publishers you will rarely outrank on authority alone.

Run the sites currently ranking for your target keyword through the compare tool to see the real bar rather than guessing at it.

What moves a DA score

DA responds to links from other domains, weighted by how authoritative those domains are. Ten links from ten distinct reputable sites move it far more than a hundred from one.

Publishing more content does not raise DA by itself. Content raises DA only when it earns links, which is why the tactics that work are the ones that give other people a reason to cite you.

Our guide to increasing Domain Authority covers the specific tactics in priority order.

Why DA scores differ between tools

Each tool calculates authority from its own crawl of the web. Different indexes see different links, so different tools return different numbers for the same domain. None of them is the official figure, because there is no official figure.

Our score is an independent estimate from free, public signals, documented on the methodology page. Pick one tool and track it consistently; switching tools mid-campaign measures the switch, not your progress.

Frequently asked questions

A DA score is a number from 1 to 100 that estimates how likely a domain is to rank in search results, based mainly on the strength of its backlink profile. It is a third-party prediction created by SEO tools, not a measurement taken from Google.

There is no fixed threshold. A good DA score is one higher than the sites you compete with for your keywords. In practice, new sites sit under 10, established niche sites between 20 and 40, strong commercial competitors between 40 and 60, and major publishers above 60.

Not directly. Google does not use DA, so raising the score does not itself cause rankings to rise. Both tend to move together because both respond to earning quality links, but DA is the symptom rather than the cause.

Months, not weeks, and the scale is logarithmic. Moving from 10 to 20 is achievable in a few months of genuine link earning. Moving from 60 to 70 can take years. Any service promising a fast jump is manipulating the metric, not the site.
